Dr. Ruth McDanel, DC was born and raised in West Des Moines. She attended Iowa State University in Ames where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with in minor in Anthropology. She then went on to study at and is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. She graduated with honors with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  

While at Palmer, she took the core “Palmer Package” courses which included diversified, Gonstead, and Thompson techniques.  She also elected to take extra courses in techniques that focused on low force adjustments (Activator, SOT, and Flexion-Distraction) as well as rehabilitation methods.  She also worked as a teaching assistant for several classes which focused on physical therapy techniques and diagnosis.

In her free time Dr. McDanel enjoys reading, horseback riding, knitting, and going for hikes. She also loves traveling to other countries to learn about other cultures, make new friends, and learn about their histories. So far she has visited Italy, Monte Carlo, the French Rivera, Ireland, and Scotland. She hopes to continue her travels in the future. Dr. McDanel also has a siberian husky named Fiona, who sometimes accompanies her in the office.
