One question that we get asked a lot is “Where did your name for your clinic come from/what does it mean?”
There are two parts to answering this question. The first is that foxglove flowers are Dr. Ruth’s favorite flower. The second reason for picking Foxglove Chiropractic as the name is the fact that the foxglove flower, also known as foxglove digitalis, has ties to modern day medicine. This plant contains a compound that has been extracted and named digitalin, which today is used as a heart medication that regulates heart rate and the contractility of the heart. This medication is commonly used for people with atrial fibrillation. The records indicate that the extract from this flower have been used to help with heart conditions as far back as the 1700s! Today, this compound is known by other names (brand names), but if you do a little research you might find that one of your medications could be based off of this flower!
The idea behind picking this is to show that a fair amount of modern medicine has its roots in natural remedies, which ties into chiropractic care. The idea of chiropractic care is to help the body do what it is good at and heal itself by removing the nerve interference that occurs when you need adjusted. Chiropractic care is a non-invasive and natural approach to your health, letting your body do what it was created to do and heal itself.
